Demon of the night

Slowly stealthily you creep up on me oh demon of the night Never giving a hint, never giving me time for flight You steal over me, night consumes the day For me there is no other way

With a thick blanket of darkness, you surround me I retreat into your nothingness wanting to be free You smother me in your emptiness How can I cope with this distress

You block out all sensation While I lose all sense of creation Outside I see all the devotion While inside I drown in my emotion

You siphon my will Until you’ve had your fill Will I ever make it to the other side I just need to learn to fight against the tide

Finally day defeats the night Again I have won the fight Another day I am free Until you creep up on me

And so continues my internal war I have been through it so many times before Oh demon of the night of one thing I am sure I will always, always win against your allure
